  1. Any thoughts Re: making this work as a vegetarian? I eat cheese, I eat dairy (so not vegan; I do not consume meat, chicken, fish. I do not eat eggs. Many store-bought meat substitutes are highly processed, and stuff that I would normally consume, or depending on how you view seitan, made with vital wheat gluten (which I assume would be a no-no here). Any thoughts would be great. Thanks!

    The best fruits to consume once or twice a day are berries and tomatoes. Bananas, apples, etc. are best avoided unless they are essentially the only sugars the person will eat for the day. If dinner will have potatoes, for example, stay away from sweeter fruits. Other carbohydrates I would consider are legumes (lentils, beans, fava beans, etc.) and quinoa.
    You can buy or download mobile phone applications that help you keep track of your water intake, monitor your exercise and log meals. This will help keep you focused on your weight loss goals and help you find areas in your diet and activity level that you can improve upon

As I mentioned in my other comment to you, glycemic index has a much more powerful effect on insulin (which clamps down fat-burning). So, while total carbs do matter, the important part is that dietary sugars don’t replace the work that the liver has to do to maintain your blood sugar levels. As long as it’s the liver primarily doing the work, you’ll be in a moderately ketogenic state.
