The reason I’m not too worried is because it’s a lot easier for your body to convert dietary sugars to body fat than dietary fats to body fat. Basically, dietary fats have to be broken down into something a lot like sugar, and built back up into body fat. So, when you eat something with very little sugar, even though your body may use that sugar immediately, the fats are going to be available for longer. Intermittent fasting is acceptable. It’s just hard for athletes to fit into a training strategy unless you have a very specific physiological reason to do so. It’s very, very easy to screw up your energy levels or your recovery from a training week if you do it incorrectly—or alternately, you might recover fine and have decent energy levels, but be prevented from really increasing your training volume in the way you might want. For a normally active person, it can work just fine.
And, generally speaking, while a larger deficit will always cause the fastest weight loss (good!), it’s also the most likely to be problematic in terms of these other factors (bad!). A smaller deficit is the opposite of this… the least problematic in this regard (yay!) but also the slowest rate of weight loss (boo!).

So that means that if you force your body to depend on that system (because you are eliminating the possibility for it to burn sugars) then you won’t have nearly as much energy to burn throughout the day as you’re used to (until the fat-burning system starts to develop). That lethargy or fatigue is most often because the body can’t supply as much fuel as it is accustomed to (while attempting to maintain the same activity levels).

Most people lose weight, depending on whether they have too much excess fat, but cleaning up the metabolism with the TWT means that you can put on muscle comparatively easier (because long story short your muscles are your metabolic engine). Note that muscle is a lot heavier than the same volume of fat, meaning that you can put on a few pounds of muscle with few noticeable changes to your body, since those muscular changes can (and often do) happen in the deep muscle tissue such as the hip floor or the muscles that are in charge of spinal integrity.
