The third day, I was craving peanut butter so so so bad. It was all that I could think about for literally two days. I did a little reading about why people crave peanut or nut butters. I felt like I had the protein and magnesium under control (I take a good magnesium supplement, plus lots of the lentils and flax seed in the smoothie have it), but I wasn’t so sure about the fat. Instead of giving into my craving, I upped the amount of nuts I was eating by an ounce and I added a whole avocado to my day (I put half of one in my smoothie in the morning for a few days). I also switched out that nonfat yogurt at this point. That really did the trick. I stopped craving just about everything, I stayed full between meals, and I only had a snack in the middle of the afternoon a few times (which is unusual for me).

He honestly didn’t even notice. I didn’t make it a big deal, I just did it. I never used the word “diet” in front of my kids, I never said “I can’t eat that,” and I made a point to not make a big deal out of it. I don’t want my kids to think of me as a dieter. I just want to be a healthy well-balanced mom who models that for her kids. There were only probably 3 times in the whole 14 days they asked why I was eating this or not eating that and I simple said that it was what sounded good to me. I made no labels of “healthy” either. When they asked if I wanted a bite of something I would just say, “no thanks,” and we’d move on. It really wasn’t a big deal because I didn’t make it a big deal. I think that’s important when it comes to dieting in a house full of other people.

I was trying to understand why your body would ever use glycogen below MAF if fat was available, which I believe you answered in specifying that liver glycogen in particular is responsible for maintaining blood sugar levels (for the brain primarily). So the best part of being more efficient at burning fat is that you maintain more glycogen (both liver and muscle) for maintaining blood sugar levels rather than trying to fuel your aerobic system.

I’m not sure if my “reaction” was just a part of adjusting to low carb/high fat eating or it’s really a reaction. I ate two zucchinis (pasta replacement) with spagetti sauce (tomatoes blended with roasted red bell peppers, with some cremini mushrooms, onion). What was different foods for that night were zucchini, cremini mushrooms, and roasted red bell peppers. Do I wait til after TWT to see if one or all of them are a problem for me?

Nothing crazy, just cardio (bike, treadmill, elliptical) and maybe some upper-body strength training. In the past, I’ve always been told to eat carbs before a workout. But if I’m following this program, I’m not sure what to eat, as I now seriously limit my carb intake to what’s allowed on TWT.
Hi! I am currently 1 week in to the 2 week test and am loving it – feeling so much more mindful of my eating and enjoying the food! I’m very active and a personal trainer but have tried to tone down my activity this week and plan to even more so next week. However, I’ve been feeling quite bloated in the evenings and have been gassy the last two days. I’ve been fairly regular in the mornings (although with a more fatty consistency!) so I’m wondering where this all coming from as most people seem to report that their bloated stomachs go down, gas disappears, etc. Any insight into how the Two Week Test might be affecting my system? Perhaps it’s the vegetables…definitely eating more than normal but I’m still not seeing any of the positive stomach aspects, haven’t lost any weight (although I take the scale with a grain of salt and don’t check it often) and have really followed the food list.
