February 18, 2017 at 3:04 pm I had normal sugar cravings for two days in a row. The third day, I was craving peanut butter so so so bad. It was all that I could think about for literally two days. I did a little reading about why people crave peanut or nut butters. This article on food cravings was very insightful and useful. Your body is so smart! It normally means that you need more fat, protein, or magnesium. I felt like I had the protein and magnesium under control (I take a good magnesium supplement, plus lots of the lentils and flax seed in the smoothie have it), but I wasn’t so sure about the fat. Instead of giving into my craving, I upped the amount of nuts I was eating by an ounce and I added a whole avocado to my day (I put half of one in my smoothie in the morning for a few days). I also switched out that nonfat yogurt at this point. That really did the trick. I stopped craving just about everything, I stayed full between meals, and I only had a snack in the middle of the afternoon a few times (which is unusual for me).

Yes, I’ve eaten a lot more ground beef and a little more cheese – mostly aged, unprocessed. I have also been running higher mileage in the past month. I’ve read through your comments on other questions and that is something I think may have contributed. I might start by taking out anything with added sugar for a week, keep my runs easy and consistent, and then try a true two week test again with more veggie variety and a little less ground beef. I think I will need to eat a ton, though, to get enough calories, so maybe I’ll plan my meals a little differently. I’ll report back when I can try again. Thanks, Ivan.

Hi, I know that during the twt, it’s best to eat within an hour of waking. My process has been to wake, exercise and then eat – sometimes it’s over an hour.
