However, here’s where I’m stuck: I picked up some Oikos low-fat Greek yogurt last week at the grocery store. It is NOT full-fat, but the label said only 6g of sugar and 6g of carbs — which is WAY lower than any other yogurts I’ve seen. When I compared the label from this one to ones that are full-fat (and unflavored), their sugar/carb counts were double, triple and sometimes quadruple. So my question is, is this Oikos OK to eat? I was trying to understand why your body would ever use glycogen below MAF if fat was available, which I believe you answered in specifying that liver glycogen in particular is responsible for maintaining blood sugar levels (for the brain primarily). So the best part of being more efficient at burning fat is that you maintain more glycogen (both liver and muscle) for maintaining blood sugar levels rather than trying to fuel your aerobic system.
