In some of the research I have done, I keep finding reference to protein being recommended as 20% or less of the macro ratio based on the glycogen stored in protein as well as how the body metabolizes protein (producing glycogen). Seems to suggest 70/15/15 or even 80/10/10. Wondering if you have any opinion or data on glycogen in protein (stored or metabolized)? Maybe keeping the carb ratio at 10% as you mentioned balances out with the 30% protein and glycogen generated there.

Thank-you for your reply. I am keen to continue with the MAF Method. I have now finished the two week test (which I extend to 3 weeks) and have now moved from a no carb diet to a low carb diet. No pasta,cereals or rice. Have re-introduced small quantities of potatoes and approx. 1-2 slices of low carb bread per week. Running has definitely improved since my last post My question is am I still training my body to burn fat or is this reintroduction of a small quantity of carbs (probably less than a quarter of what I ate prior to the MAF method) defeating the aim of burning fat? Any advice?

Product Test Best news we’ve heard all day! I had normal sugar cravings for two days in a row. The third day, I was craving peanut butter so so so bad. It was all that I could think about for literally two days. I did a little reading about why people crave peanut or nut butters. This article on food cravings was very insightful and useful. I felt like I had the protein and magnesium under control (I take a good magnesium supplement, plus lots of the lentils and flax seed in the smoothie have it), but I wasn’t so sure about the fat. Instead of giving into my craving, I upped the amount of nuts I was eating by an ounce and I added a whole avocado to my day (I put half of one in my smoothie in the morning for a few days). I also switched out that nonfat yogurt at this point. That really did the trick. I stopped craving just about everything, I stayed full between meals, and I only had a snack in the middle of the afternoon a few times (which is unusual for me).

Went to the doctor and had a blood test and my LDL Cholesterol is now high (5.3 when the norm is <3.5). My overall cholesterol is also a bit high at 7.9 but my HDL and triglycerides are good (2.39 and 0.6 respectively). This is the meansurements we use in New Zealand so not sure if different elsewhere?
