During the race, I tried to stay aerobic (I don’t have a HR monitor yet), and it went very well. I was comfortable the whole race and had no problems. Despite intentionally trying to keep my HR down by going slower, my time was not far off at all from my usual times. I’m amazed that I was able to do that with such an extreme change to low-carb diet in the 6 days leading up to it. I’ve got another week to go on the TWT. 5 days in, energy level is high, sleep is good! So far so good, however I still drink a lot of water but don’t wake up at night as much, why could this be? My normal lifestyle/nutrition does not include many carbs anyway so what happens with the water in the absence of carbs? My question – should I drop the TWT for now and restart when I am healthier? I just realized today that the cold symptoms may be masking the other reactions I should be looking for.
