I am a serious glutton and have been known to eat serious amounts of food! I know you said nuts are okay, but to me that’s a green light to go nuts (haha) and eat a ton of cashews as a substitute for crunchy, processed carb snacks like chips and so on. I know Dr. Maffetone says, “Eat as much as you like”, but I’m aware on other low-carb diets over-eating or stuffing yourself is not recommended.

As a neuroscientist, I’ve read hundreds of studies on the brain’s ability to fight weight loss. I also know about it from experience. For three decades, starting at age 13, I lost and regained the same 10 or 15 pounds almost every year. On my most serious diet, in my late 20s, I got down to 125 pounds, 30 pounds below my normal weight. I wanted (unwisely) to lose more, but I got stuck. After several months of eating fewer than 800 calories a day and spending an hour at the gym every morning, I hadn’t lost another ounce. When I gave up on losing and switched my goal to maintaining that weight, I started gaining instead.

Politics and World Issues After continuing the TWT past Dec 19th, I slowly added in carbs. But there was no improvement in my ( lack ) of ability to consistently maintain sub-MAF running. I felt continuous muscle fatigue, so I ordered blood tests from my doctor, taken on December 29. The results are more than a little alarming to me, and I hoped you may be able to help me further understand them. I have talked to my doctor’s nurse, but their advice was basically to re-test in 4 weeks. I don’t fully trust conventional medical practitioners, like my doctor, and hoped you may be able to offer some more enlightened and basic fixes if I list the readings which are outside normal range.
